Bethel Neighborhood Center serves refugees and local citizens living in their community. Programs are offered for senior citizens, youth after school care, healthy lifestyle education, immigrant and refugee cultural transition, and food and necessities for low-income residents.
For senior citizens and the disabled, Bethel delivers food weekly and assists with utilities payments. The ministry also operates a food pantry and provides supplies for infants and children and backpacks for school children.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry was providing help to as many as 10,000 individuals. That number has now doubled to over 20,000 people in the community. Bethel was founded in 1931 and is an original mission of the Women’s Baptist Home Mission Societies (now known as American Baptist Women’s Ministries).
